FAQ

Frequently asked questions about buying property in Thailand

Can a foreigner buy property in Thailand?

Yes. Foreigners can own a condominium unit outright as long as foreign ownership in the building stays within 49% of the floor area. Foreigners generally cannot own land, so villas are usually bought on a long-term lease (leasehold).

What is the difference between freehold and leasehold?

Freehold is full ownership of the unit, while leasehold is a long-term lease, typically 30 years, with renewal terms that can be set in the contract. We will help you compare both for a given offer.

Do I need to travel to Thailand to buy?

Not always. Part of the paperwork can be handled remotely, and we can arrange viewings using photos and video. The exact scope depends on the offer and the developer.
